General Academics
Faith & Mission-First
Growing in Christ, Equipping to Serve, Preparing for the Future (Pre-K through Grade 12)
At The Pilgrim Academy, we offer a rigorous, college-preparatory environment designed to help every student thrive. We believe that true education combines academic excellence with individual attention, all built upon a firm spiritual foundation.
- Small Class Sizes: We keep our classes small to ensure personalized attention. Elementary classes average 12-18 students, while upper school classes range from 18-25 students (with advanced courses and electives often being much smaller).
- Real-World Learning: Academic instruction is regularly enriched by educational field trips to nearby points of cultural interest.
- Proven Results: Over 90% of our graduates attend college, earning acceptances to more than 150 prestigious colleges and universities across the country.
Our Curriculum & Accreditation
Our newly updated curriculum serves as the bedrock of our academic program and fulfills the high standards required for our accreditation by the Garden State Association of Christian Schools (GSACS), the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS), and the North American Christian School Accrediting Agency (NACSAA).
To ensure our students always receive the highest quality education:
- Differentiated Instruction: Our faculty regularly reviews course evaluations and lesson plans, modifying content and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of our students.
- Aligned Resources: Textbooks, workbooks, and supplemental media are tightly integrated with our core curricular goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Our teaching staff meets regularly to analyze student achievement, maintain consistency across grade levels, and establish targeted goals for ongoing professional faculty training.'
Technology in the Classroom
We are committed to preparing students for a digital world by integrating modern tools directly into daily instruction. Our classrooms feature state-of-the-art equipment designed to make learning interactive and dynamic:
- Interactive SMART Boards: Combining crisp projection with touch-screen capabilities to create an engaging, hands-on learning experience.
- Classroom-Specific Computers: Powering multimedia presentations, project notes, interactive outlines, and educational broadcasts.
- Advanced Scientific & Math Tools: Bringing abstract concepts to life with specialized software and apparatus, including:
- Function and graphing programs for advanced mathematics.
- Optical gate triggers and digital timers for physics experiments.
- Projection microscopes for biology labs.
- Electronic pH and dissolved oxygen meters for chemistry and environmental science.
Supplemental Support & Individualized Instruction
We recognize that every student learns differently. To support students within our rigorous college-preparatory framework, we offer targeted, small-group instruction using alternate materials and current technology:
- Language Arts/English Replacement: Available for students in grades 6 through 12.
- Math Replacement: Available for students in grades 7 and 8.
Our goal is to provide the scaffolding and individualized support necessary to ensure every student can confidently achieve their educational objectives.
Our Spiritual Foundation: A Biblical Worldview
In partnership with our families and friends of the school, the faculty and staff at The Pilgrim Academy are deeply dedicated to filtering all knowledge through a Christ-centered lens. We don't just teach subjects; we help students develop a robust Biblical worldview.
"From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love." Ephesians 4:16
