General

The Pilgrim Academy offers instruction to students in grades Pre-K through twelve in a college-preparatory environment.  Most class sizes are small ranging from 18-25 students in the upper school and 12-18 in the elementary classes.  Upper level courses and electives are often much smaller.

Academic instruction is often supplemented by field trips to nearby points of cultural interest.  Over 90% of our graduates attend college, and have been accepted to over 150 colleges throughout the country.

Supplemental Instruction
Individualized instruction is offered for students who benefit from learning in small group settings.  Supplemental reading instruction is available for students in kindergarten through second grade, and replacement instruction for language arts and math is offered for third through twelfth grades.  Students utilize current technology and alternate materials that support their educational objectives.  The goal of small group instruction is to support students in the college preparatory program.

Curriculum
The Pilgrim Academy’s curriculum was recently updated and serves as a basis for our GSACS (Garden State Association of Christian Schools) and AACS (American Association of Christian Schools) accreditation.

As teachers prepare lesson plans and review course evaluations, they modify curriculum content and educational resources to provide differentiated instruction; and to maintain and improve learning results in sequential years.

Textbooks, workbooks and supplemental media are closely aligned to our curricula.  The teaching staff meets regularly to discuss student achievement and consistency of results.  Needs for professional training of the faculty are identified, and goals set for achievement.

Technology in the Classroom
Schools and classroom amenities are included in curriculum descriptions and lesson plans.  The complement of classroom equipment and apparatus recently benefited from these additions:

1. Classroom specific computers drive PowerPoint presentations, project notes and outlines, and broadcast educational media.

2. SMART Boards combine projection and touch screen technology to present an interactive experience.

3. Improved classroom technology is bringing function and graphing programs (software and calculations) to math instruction; optical gate triggers and digital timers to physics studies; projection microscopes to biology; electronic pH and dissolved oxygen meters to science and chemistry.

In conjunction with family and friends of the school, the faculty and staff of The Pilgrim Academy are dedicated to bringing a Biblical world view to your students’ education.

Ephesians 4:16
From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
