Robots

On April 16, 2011, The Pilgrim Academy participated in the 2nd Annual IEEE Robot Challenge held at Cape May Airport. For the second year in a row, senior students built the proto-type Robots “from scratch.” Individual designs and construction began in January and were incorporated into the course curricula. Student teams received a box of supplies and were to design and construct a “Robot” prototype capable of walking six feet across a table-top obstacle course. Teams were also required to do a write up and give an oral presentation. All three requirements went into the final judging for placing.
Pilgrim won 3rd place and Honorable Mention this year.
Third Place: “The Land of Oz” (Brandon Griffin, Keith Lieb, Alisha Vasu, and Jo El Casseli)
Honorable Mention: “Blackout” (Seth Couchoud, Allan Chow, and John Roque)
This year seven schools participated in the Challenge: Absegami High School, Asbury Park High School, Atlantic Christian School, Cedar Creek High School, High Technology High School, Neptune High School, and The Pilgrim Academy.
